The past few months have been lazy for me. I was not eating healthy at all, and as a result I regained a lot of the weight I lost. So as a result, one of my goals for 2018 is to lose weight and eat healthier. So what I am going to do, is list some of the tips that I use to eat healthier, and how you can utilize them to your routine.
Stock up on healthy foods
I am more likely to eat fruits and vegetables over any alternatives if I have them staring at me in the fridge. This works for me for a couple of reasons. First of all, since I am constantly seeing them, I am more likely to use them and not just cook some ramen.
This also works because I am a very frugal person, and throwing out food to me is like throwing out money. I don’t like throwing out money.
Don’t buy junky foods
If I had them in the house, I can guarantee that I would subsist on a diet of canned ravioli and soft muffins. I know what my “trigger foods”are that would cause me to overly binge, and as a result, I try to avoid them as much as possible. If you have junk foods in the house, it makes it harder to eat the healthier foods, even if you have them in meal prep containers waiting for you to eat.
So buy minimal to no junky foods at all, and instead, buy whole food replacements.
Carry around snacks
If you are shopping or doing some errands, chances are, you will eventually get hungry. If you are out, you are more likely to just stop at a fast food restaurant, or buy a candy bar in order to quickly eat something, and this can make you eat hundreds of more calories than you would otherwise be used to.
So carry a banana, or a homemade snack food, such as popcorn, or granola, with you wherever you go. That way, you have less of an excuse to eat junk foods when you are hungry.
The Main Things
The main things you want to work on in order to be healthy is eating healthier foods. These include whole fruits and vegetables, as well as beans and legumes. Reducing junk foods and refined foods and replacing them with these more delicious whole foods is always a good place to start.
