It’s about time I added a popular Canadian-based fast food company here on ThatNerdyScienceGirl, this time it is Tim Hortons. I am planning on adding more non-US based companies as time goes on, and if you are interested in seeing any particular stores, comment below and request from me!
Tim Hortons would be the Canadian version of Dunkin Donuts is for us in the US. They serve mainly coffee and donuts, with sandwiches and soups if you so desire.
Now for Tim Hortons, I am kinda shocked that they do have both vegetarian, as well as vegan options that are hearty and even decent in protein. For instance, for vegans they have:
- Hearty Vegetable Soup
- Kettle Cooked Chips
- Oatmeal (Except apple cinnamon, which has dairy)
- Apple Strudel
- Biscuits/English Muffins
- Pineapple Orange and Strawberry Banana smoothies (w/o Yogurt)
The hearty vegetable soup contains beans, which add 4 grams of protein to this soup. Add a soup roll to this for a nice vegan lunch on the go!
For all the vegetarians out there, there are a wide variety of options for you to pick from. Aside from the plant-based options mentioned above, you also have:
- French Onion Soup (This shocked me, as french onion soup usually contains beef broth, but this is beef free)
- Broccoli Cheddar Soup
- Roasted Red Pepper Gouda Soup
- Mac and Cheese
- Grilled Cheese
- Greek Yogurt
- Cauliflower cheese soup
- All donuts, muffins, and coffee (sadly, they don’t appear to have Almond or soy milk yet for their coffee).
Like usual, there are more options for lacto-vegetarians than ovo-vegetarians. That said, there are plenty of vegetarian and even vegan options, including hearty vegan options that can be made into a full meal, which almost never happens when I make these lists.
So whether you are vegetarian, or a full-on vegan, there are some great food choices to pick from at Tim Hortons.
