Yet again, I am showcasing another burger place. This time Jack In The Box. When I started my Eating Vegetarian At series, I was not planning on making a whole bunch of same old same old posts on burger places, pizza places, etc. However, the more I look into them for vegetarian options, the more I become shocked at how different many of them are. Some use different frying oils that may include lard, while others may actually have a vegetarian or vegan protein replacement.
Jack In The Box shocked me with their large amount of vegan options, even if they do not have a protein replacement, I actually had to add a whole new section in my notebook to add in all the vegan options, which I have never had to do before, so I am impressed. Anyways, for vegan options, Jack In The Box has:
- Side Salad (Without the ranch(Get the low fat vinegarette instead))
- Apple slices (without the caramel)
- Curly Fries
- Homestyle Potatoes
- Spicy Corn Sticks
- Bun with vegetables (Many vegans do this, no idea why)
That is a lot of vegan options for such a small chain restaurant. The oil they fry in is canola oil too, so unlike Rally’s, it’s fries are vegan.
For vegetarians, we have all of the above, including:
- Onion Rings
- Mini Pancakes
- Cranberry muffins
- Stuffed Jalapenos
- Grilled Cheese
when it comes to ordering vegan options, or vegetarian options, it is possible to alter the regular menu to fit your lifestyle as well. For instance, you can go in and order a burger with no cheese, meat, or mayo, but add extra veggies, and fries as a burger replacement. I do this often when I eat at Wendy’s, and it tastes pretty good, albeit it not being filling at all.
Hopefully Jack In The Box will get with the program and provide more veggie options as time goes by. But we will see.
